Don't cut your lawn with a dull mower blade!  Always keep the blade sharp.

Don't let the lawn get tall.

Don't cut more than 1/3 its height off at any one time.  For example, if you are cutting at 3 inches high, cut the grass before it reaches 4 1/2 inches high.

Do install trees and shrubs during the winter months.  Winter is an ideal time for shrub and tree installation since root systems develop during this period.

Do water more frequently under trees.  Tree roots take water from the lawn and shrubs quickly and the tree's canopy prevents rain from reaching the grass and shrubs below
